This postcard view of the town of Langesund, for which the fjord is named, manifests the geological tilted layering of the area. The ages of the rocks in this area embrace almost a billion years of geological history, from preCambrian to Permian. Låven is to the right, out of view. A projection of Sandøya is seen extending in from the right, and Sylterøya can be identified. Løvøya is out of view, just to the right of Sandøya.
